Mission:

Jewel Theatre Company, a non-profit 501(c)(3) company established in 2005, is dedicated to creating extraordinary productions that explore the art of theatre by entertaining, enlightening and engaging our community .

Staff:

Artistic Director - Julie James
Julie is a long-time member of the Actors' Equity Association and has performed with numerous companies in the Bay Area and beyond, including Marin Theatre Company where she played Sally Smith in Me and My Girl and was awarded the Dean Goodman Choice Award for Principal Performance in a Musical. Julie has also performed with American Musical Theatre of San Jose, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, Idaho Shakespeare Festival, Sierra Repertory Theatre, California Conservatory Theatre, Center Repertory Theatre, The Willows Theatre, and VITA Shakespeare Festival. Julie has performed in numerous Jewel Theatre productions including the one-woman tour de force production of Women on Fire. Julie has also directed several productions including Jewel's inaugural show Love Match, Raised in Captivity and You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown. Julie holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Santa Clara University and attended the Drama Studio of London in Berkeley. Julie is currently getting her Master of Arts in Drama at San Francisco State University.

Associate Artistic Director / Audience Development Director - Mike Cymanski
Mike has directed/choreographed for California Conservatory Theater, Hillbarn, San Jose Children's Musical Theater, Actors Theater Center, BJF Productions, Theater in the Mountains, Sunnyvale Players, Starting Arts, Jewel Theatre and The Workhouse Theater in NYC. A 21-year member of Actor's Equity Association, Mike has appeared in over 100 productions across the country and has shared the stage with such luminaries as Chita Rivera, Jean Stapleton, Marin Mazzie, Tom Wopat, Sally Struthers, and Adrian Zmed. Credits include New York and Tour: 42nd Street (3rd National), A House on a Hill (Dramatist Guild), A Glimpse of the Light (Producers Club), The Rate of Falling (Workhouse Theater). Regional and Stock: Evita (Music Theater of Oregon), Crazy for You (Santa Barbara Civic Light Opera), Hello Dolly! (Woodminster), A Chorus Line (Barn Theater), and LuckyStiff (California Conservatory Theater). Mike was a fixture with American Musical Theater of San Jose, appearing in 40 shows including Lee Harvey Oswald in Assassins, The Tinman in The Wizard of Oz, Patrick Dennis in Mame, Young Buddy in Follies, Samuel in The Pirates of Penzance, Mahoney/Del DaCosta in City of Angels, and Burt Healy in Annie. Santa Cruz audiences have seen Mike in I Do! I Do!, Peggy, The Musical, and Starting Here, Starting Now, all with Jewel Theatre. Mike is currently studying Creative Arts and Business Administration at San Jose State University.
