The Directing/Design Team:

Directed by Erik Gandolfi

Director Erik Gandolfi studied theatre at Pacific Conservatory for the Performing Arts and Santa Clara University. Gandolfi has worked as an actor at various regional theatres including Shakespeare Santa Cruz, PCPA TheatreFest, Sierra Repertory Theatre and Pacific Repertory Theatre. He was an instructor with the William James Association at Mule Creek State Prison, directing a variety of plays within the inmate population. A member of the Screen Actors Guild, Gandolfi also worked in a variety of industrial films and a national ad campaign. Gandolfi also produces, films and edits feature length documentaries regional ad campaigns, corporate & industrial films, including a promotional video for the Defense Language Institute in Monterey

The Players:

Mike Ryan*

Father Flynn

Mike Ryan is very pleased to make his debut with the Jewel Theatre. Santa Cruz audiences will know him from his work with Shakespeare Santa Cruz where he has performed in more than twenty five productions over the past twelve years. Most recently, In Shipwrecked! The Amazing Adventures of Louis deRougemont as Told by Himself, Mr. Ryan played seventeen different roles, including a dog and Queen Victoria. Beyond Santa Cruz County, he has worked for the La Jolla Playhouse, the Geva Theatre Center in New York, and Shakespeare Festivals in Oklahoma, Texas, Idaho and Oregon. He received his BFA from Southern Methodist University and his MFA from the University of California at San Diego. From 2003 through 2009, he was a lecturer in the Theatre Arts Department at UCSC.  Mr. Ryan is a proud member of the Actors’ Equity Association.

Jessica Powell*

Sister Aloysius

Jessica Powell is very happy to make her first appearance with Jewel Theatre, and is excited to work with such a talented group. Recent work includes Mary Baltimore in On the Verge: The Geography of Yearning (Cinnabar/6th St.), the Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz (The Mountain Play), and Helicanus/Bawd/et al. in Pericles (SF Shakespeare). She performed at New York’s CSC Repertory Theatre in The Cavern and The Cuchulain Cycle, and has also worked with Berkeley Repertory, San Jose Repertory, Aurora Theatre, PCPA TheaterFest, and Pennsylvania’s Hedgerow Theatre, among others. Favorite roles include Hannah, et al. in Angels in America; Joanne (Company); Mame (Mame); Elizabeth I (Mary Stuart), Aunt Eller (Oklahoma!), Mrs. Higgins (My Fair Lady), Mrs. Roswell (Ice Glen), Margrethe Bohr (Copenhagen), and Goneril (King Lear). Ms. Powell has been a proud member of the Actors’ Equity Association since 1989.

April Green

Sister James

April Green holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Bethany College where she was awarded Dramatist of the Year. After college, she held an acting internship with the Lexington Childrens' Theatre in Kentucky where she performed the lead in the traveling production of Rapunzel. April has performed and taught various theater and improv in Santa Cruz for the last nine years. She loves her work with the long form improvisational theater group, Freefall, performing improvised plays. She is excited to continue her work and education in theater. Ms. Green is honored to work with and inspired by the amazingly talented cast of Doubt.

Nadia Antovia Liggins

Mrs. Muller

Nadia Antovia Liggins is please to be making her debut at Jewel Theatre. A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Nadia has been performing since the age of 15. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Art in Motion Pictures & Television from the Academy of Art University. Favorite past roles include Suzan-Lori Parks in 365 Days/365 Plays (New Conservatory Theatre), Cleopatra Statue in Color Blinds (Daddylion Pictures, LLC), Old Soul/Voice of God in Dead Happy (San Francisco Free Civic Theater), and Nurse in Saint (SF Young Playwrights Festival). Ms. Liggins wants to thank Mr. Erik Gandolfi for this great opportunity.  Also, she wants to thank her husband and family in Tennessee for all of their love and support.
