Schiller’s MARY STUART

In a new version by Peter Oswald
Directed by Susan Myer Silton

Strikingly relevant today, MARY STUART probes themes of political corruption and religious conflict as it dramatizes the struggle of Mary, Queen of Scots, for her freedom from Queen Elizabeth I. In this thrilling episode from the past, Schiller mixes historical fact with a dramatic imagined meeting of the two queens amidst espionage, attempted assassinations, prison breaks, lost love, and a tragic crisis which confronts both women with impossibly difficult decisions about their claim to the throne.
